This page describes how the JEV comedy contest uses information from YouTube Live Chat.

What the contest receives

When you post a contest command in YouTube chat, the application receives the message text, message ID, publication time, channel ID and displayed channel name through the YouTube API. It uses them to admit one answer, question or vote per account under the published rules and to prevent duplicate deliveries.

How it is used

Eligible answers and proposed questions are evaluated by JEV through the configured provider. The application publishes approved content, protected moderation decisions, round results and points. Pending questions and sensitive rejected text are withheld. A successful answer or vote may appear with the channel name shown on YouTube.

Storage and retention

The application replaces channel IDs with internal pseudonyms. Raw chat messages, original displayed names in contest entries and message IDs are removed or anonymized after 29 days by default. Historic decisions and points may remain with pseudonymous names.

Other services

YouTube provides the chat and video. The configured JEV provider receives candidate text for moderation and selection. This website embeds the YouTube video when available. Participation remains subject to YouTube's own policies.
